There are few family names in the Australian wine industry as eminent and enduring as Glaetzer and Potts, they own and operate many of the oldest and most precious vineyards in Langhorne Creek. John Glaetzer was right hand man to the legendary Wolf Blass throughout the breathtaking sequence of Black Label Jimmy Watson victories. Ben Potts learned his trade at the oldest family owned wineworks in Australia Bleasdale, established by the larger than life Frank Potts in 1858. Ben's great grandfather was the first Langhorne Creek grower to supply grapes to Wolf Blass. The Glaetzer and Potts families have collaborated for decades to achieve many of the nation's most memorable vintages. Together, Ben Potts and John Glaetzer work quietly behind the scenes on a softly spoken brand named Gipsie Jack. An unpretentiously understated label, crafted from the fruit of Langhorne Creek's.. Some Young Punks Passion Has Red Lips CONFIRM VINTAGE

Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia
Conceptually, an adaptation of the pulp novel Sin on Wheels, realized through an equitable coupling of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Fruit is harvested off fully mature vines, crushed into fermenters and treated to maceration for the optimal extraction of colour and tannins. A course of vinification on skins and pressing into a selection of new and seasoned French oak barriques, for the completion of malolactic and term of maturation. This is Passion, a monster bigger than the three of us that leads us to soapbox, even to grandstand and sometimes pass out on the couch.
Inky ruby colour. Complex aromas of vivid red and dark berries, pungent herbs and fresh flowers. Round and seductive, with silky raspberry and blackberry preserve flavors braced by nervy minerality. Stains the palate with energetic red berry flavors, no intrusive tannins to get in the way of the fruit. There is always the danger that while drinking a bottle of Punks, you may also be pushed to acts of complete random.

We wanted to do something that had been done before, to make exceptional wine with small estate charm

We blame the booze. The whiff and the swill did us in and all that was left to do was to make more. In many ways the wines that weren’t worth the pull on the cork caused this as much as the wines that we will never have the pleasure of decorking again.

Some Young Punks

The ethos is simple, to create charismatic wines that are true to what Some Young Punks think wine is about. This is Passion, a monster bigger than the three of us that leads us to soapbox, grandstand and sometimes pass out on the couch.

We believe that awesome wine is a powerful aid to creativity, there is always the danger that while drinking a bottle of Punks, you may also be pushed to acts of complete random. It keeps us ticking over.

I refer you, the jury, to the gaudy bottles of plonk stamped Some Young Punks. It's OK to judge a book by its cover , we judged the covers of books to decide on these labels.

We need you to see us, and we don't have lineage or tithe, not even a family crest to take up the papaer on the glass. These labels are as bright and bold as the wines they clothe.

Each wine, each vintage and each label is a moment that will never come again, a winemaker should only ever promise to be consistently good, not just consistent.

Each time we make a wine it may be the last wine we make, and if it isn't worthy of being the last then it will not wear the Some Young Punks name.

We believe that awesome wine is a powerful aid to creativity. The truth is that the wines so far have almost made themselves. The best fruit always does.
